Matthew Duncan
Managing Director

Matthew has gained more than two decades of broad ranging experience of the finance industry. This has been achieved by working for major financial organisations including Santander, GE Money and since 2009, Invest Southwest. Whilst working for these organisations, Matthew has achieved recognition, multiple awards and enhanced his financial qualifications. This experience allows Matthew to provide expert guidance to both individuals and businesses.
Matthew also works in partnership with various accountants and solicitors, enabling him to provide high quality tailored financial advice. Matthew became Managing Director for Invest Southwest in 2022.
Outside of work Matthew is a proud Dad and supports his children’s multiple sporting activities. He enjoys coaching football, supporting his wife’s competitive running and general family time.

Paul Gold
Independent Financial Adviser

Paul has worked in Financial Services for twenty four years as an adviser and mortgage consultant, previously employed by Towergate Financial and HSBC where he reached the status of Branch Manager.
During his time working for a large financial organisation, Paul could see his clients wanting to have the same adviser over the long term to develop trust and understanding of their financial needs. Paul decided to move into the Independent Financial Advice world and took his first role as an IFA in 2012.

Paul Booker

Paul has worked in Financial Services for a number of years as an adviser, previously employed by Towry, NFU Mutual and St. James’s Place.
Paul's key aim is to build long term relationships with his clients, to develop trust and a full understanding of their financial needs to help them navigate through the ever-changing world of finance and investments.
Outside of work Paul is a proud Dad/Grandad and supports his children’s multiple sporting activities, mostly as a Taxi service!
To relax he enjoys the odd run, walking the dogs in the Somerset countryside and general fun-filled family time.

Owen Irish

Owen is an experienced financial advisor with almost a decade of advising within the finance industry. Prior to joining Invest Southwest, he provided financial advice for St James Place. Owen specialises in advising both private and business clients on pensions, investments, and inheritance tax planning.
However, what sets Owen apart is his unwavering dedication to client service. He takes great pride in building long-term, professional relationships with his clients and is passionate about helping them achieve their financial goals. Owen is committed to providing exceptional client service and works tirelessly to ensure that his clients feel supported every step of the way.
Outside of work, Owen is an accomplished sportsman. He formerly captained Taunton Town and now enjoys spending his spare time on the golf course or cricket field. If you're looking for a financial adviser who is both dedicated to his clients and passionate about his hobbies, Owen is an excellent choice.

Amie Johnston-Ward

Amie is a qualified financial adviser with six years’ experience in the finance sector. She is dedicated to making financial planning accessible, so it is easier for her clients to navigate the world of personal finance.
As a wife and mother, Amie understands the importance of securing a financial future for her clients and their families. She is committed to building lasting relationships founded on trust and understanding.
Prior to her financial career, Amie achieved success as a professional actor, graduating with First Class Honours from Guildford School of Acting. She starred in the European premiere of "Little Women" at Hope Mill Theatre, receiving recognition in publications like The Stage and The Times.

Benson Van der Elst
Independent Mortgage Adviser
Benson is a CeMAP qualified, Independent Mortgage and Protection Adviser with 5 years of experience working at Invest Southwest.
Benson is dedicated to providing great client service to help people choose the right mortgage, whether they are first time buyers or re-mortgaging. As well as assisting people in selecting a mortgage, Benson also advises the best mortgage protection policies available to each client. This helps to ensure his clients have the option to protect their mortgage, should they wish for extra peace of mind.
Outside of work, Benson is an active volunteer in the community and enjoys spending time with family and friends. Benson has a love of the outdoors and travelling, so is always looking forward to the next adventure.
